In March, I was invited to attend the inaugural Devour! The Canadian Rockies Food Film Festival at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Even though my weekend was complimentary, I was blown away by the incredible value of a two-night stay at the JPL including most meals, alcohol, and access to all the happenings of the food and film festival. Late night at RGD RD

It is possible to get a table at RGD RD. Sure, if you are hoping for a 7 p.m. reservation on a Friday night you may need to book ahead, but if you open to some late night eats or a spot at the bar then a taste of RGD RD is within reach. The Spaniard and I recently took a class at Get Cooking Edmonton with Chef David Leeder, who is currently in the kitchen at RGD RD. I mentioned I was wanting to come in again, but heard reservations were hard to come by since Chef Blair Lebsack and Caitlin Fulton’s restaurant had been named one of Enroute’s 2014 Best New Restaurants in Canada annual listing. He corrected me –  options for spontaneous eaters are available. I learned RGD RD has one table and four seats at the bar that are always available for walk-ins.
